Introduction

Contact angle measuring and drop contour analysis system is a tool used in surface science to study the properties of solid surfaces and their interaction with liquids. The system typically consists of a high-resolution camera, a light source, and software for image analysis. A droplet of liquid is placed on a solid surface, and the camera captures images of the droplet from different angles. The software analyzes these images to calculate the contact angle, which is the angle formed between the solid surface and the tangent to the liquid surface at the point of contact. It can be used to study the wetting behavior of surfaces, surface tension, adhesion, and surface roughness.

Test contents include

Static contact angle.

Dynamic contact angle (video shooting, advancing/receding angle, rolling angle).

Surface/interfacial tension.

Solid surface free energy.

Adhesion, etc.

Sample Requirement

1. Flat Surface

The surface of the sample must be flat enough to ensure that the droplets will remain stable on the surface and that an accurate measurement can be made. The surface must not have any obvious depressions or bulges.

2. Clean surface

Before placing the liquid drop on the samplesurface, the sample surface must be thoroughly cleaned toremove grease, dirt, dust, etc.

3. Non-absorbent surface

If the liquid drop is placed on theabsorbent surface, some of the liquid on the surface willpenetrate into the sample, which may affect themeasurement results. Therefore, the surface should be non-absorbent.

4. Light Transmittance

The droplet must be observed throughthe sample surface when analyzing the droplet profile. Therefore, the sample surface must have sufficient light transmission to make the droplets visible under the camera.
