Introduction

Hardness testing is the determination of the hardness or compressive strength of a substance or material.

Hardness testing is typically used to evaluate wear resistance, strength, and other physical properties of materials.

It is the most basic form of materials testing.

Representive Results

1. Vickers hardness measurement pattern for steel sample.
2. Observation of Vickers indents.

Sample Requirement

1. Surface finish

The surface of the specimen should be flat and smooth, with no obvious scuffing, scratching, pitting, or other defects.

2. Sample Size

The specimen should be a certain size to ensure that the test can accurately measure the hardness of the material. Generally, the diameter or width of the hardness test sample should not be less than 10 mm.

3. Sample shape

The shape of the hardness test specimen should be in accordance with the requirements of the test method in use. Different test methods may require different sample shapes, such as spherical, cylindrical, rectangular, etc.

4. Sample quantity

It is usually necessary to test several specimens to obtain certain specimen statistics to ensure the reliability of test results.

5. Sample material

To ensure the reliability of test results, the material of the hardness test specimen should be the same or similar to the actual material to be tested.
